A little History on email groups #95

Dear Network,

A little History and email group

Walking in the way....

Email groups may have absolutely no value unless they result in action. In fact they may be very harmful because you may become distracted by them to the point that you fail to be a "doer of the word".

2 Timothy 2:9 "Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound."

James 1:23 "For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: "

When I set up my first  email group It was called  theekklesiachurch  group.

It was started Mon Jan 10, 2000 1:42 am with the following message.

Hi,

For the lovers of The religious society founded and established by Jesus Christ,
to receive, preserve, and propagate his doctrines and ordinances and united
under one form of government by the profession of one faith, and the observance
of the same rituals and ceremonies.

May the LORD of us all bless you,

Gregory

This statement was virtually a quote from Black's law dictionary and with it I was setting the tone and purpose of the email list

The next morning I felt I needed to add to that message.

I got up  and posted my second message:

To whom comes this way,

"Are men the property of the state? Or are they free souls under God?
This same battle continues throughout the world?"
Cecil B. DeMille in "The Ten Commandments."

I believe:
That this is the question asked and addressed in of both Old and New Testaments.

I believe:
The real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits. Plutarch.

I believe:
When thou sittest to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what [is] before thee: And put a knife to thy throat, if thou [be] a man given to appetite. Be not desirous of his dainties: for they [are] deceitful
meat. (Proverbs 23:1, 3)

I believe:
"Redemption is deliverance from the power of an alien dominion and the enjoyment of the resulting freedom. It involves the idea of restoration to one who possesses a more fundamental right or interest. The best example of redemption in the Old Testament was the deliverance of the children of Israel from bondage, from the dominion of the alien power in Egypt." Zondervan's Pictorial Encyclopedia of the Bible.

I believe:
For when they speak great swelling [words] of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, [through much] wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollution's of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known [it], to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog [is] turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. (2 Peter 2:18, 22)

From Cain to Lemech and Nimrod to the Pharaohs and the Caesars to the present day governments of the world, men have been subjecting themselves to other men in exchange for the assumed peace and security of the city state and civil governments made by the hands of man.

It is the mission of the ekklesia of the Lord to bear witness to the evil of these systems and to cry loudly so that all who will call upon the character of the LORD in word and deed in this world and the next shall find redemption from that alien authority.

And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos:
then began men to call upon the name of the LORD. (Ge 4:26 )

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. ( Ro 10:13)

The ekklesia Church are those people who have 'come out' of these systems of enslavement of man over man.

I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD...
Ps 116:13...

Come walk with us,
Gregory at the ekklesia

In the 10 years and almost 16000 emails that followed there are still only  about 100 members on that group and few of them are doing anything with or for each other. Email groups may promote apathy.

During this period I wrote several books. I did not get the information or answers in the books from what I learned on the group. But I received a clearer understanding of the problem. So for me the groups had a benefit.

This network and extended network has ten time the people on that group and many of them are doing something together every day. They are forming congregations, connecting those congregations and moving closer to Christ's way and the deeds of the early Church.

The kingdom is for doers of the word not hearers only...

Instead of just talking.... Some are beginning to walk together. And that is the Good News of the Gospel...

Join the network... seee links below.

Gregory

The group is still there with almost no posts in the last year.
